Bounce Back

Just remember the five D's of dodgeball.."Dodge", "Duck", "Dip", "Dive", and..."Dodge".

-from the movie Dodgeball: A True Underdog story

IMG-0087 Well these were the words that were in my mind when I signed up for the charity dodgeball tournament hosted by PLAYBOY Philippines. The now annual tournament aimed to gain enough funds of at least Php 200,000 for the chemotherapy of nine (9) cancer kid patients at the Veteran's Hospital in Quezon City. The tournament's beneficiary is the Givesback Foundation, Inc. which is a non-govermental, non-profit organization that is devoted to the search for a better quality of life for the poor and to provide meaningful assistance to various marginalized members of the society. The Philippine Dodge Ball Association (PDBA) also supported and facilitated this event.

Honestly, I've never played dodgeball before and I was a little nervous because I didn't know the rules. Good thing there was a briefing before the tournament proper. The main goal for the tourney was to have fun but the friendly competition became serious when serious players came out on top.

The blogger teams were divided into two, team Blogballers and Digital Manila. I was with the team Blogballers, spearheaded by our star player Jeff Aspacio. Digital Manila was led by Alvin Tan. Other teams who joined the tourney came from the Playboy staff, Lozatech and the Playmates.

We didn't make it to the semi-finals but we had fun anyway. My body ached still even after two days. Hahaha that's what I get for not stretching properly. Next year, I want to join again, it's for a good cause anyway.
