From a recent fashion blogger's event that I attended at the F*art store located at Kamuning, Quezon City, I learned of a quaint little store that promotes the works of Filipino artists both in the fields of Fashion and the Arts. The store is owned by sisters Happy and Viva Andrada. Although the store is small, it's three floors just mirror the creativity of the minds that created it. The first floor is the showroom of the products that are up for sale from different artists and brand labels that the sisters felt showcased the Filipino talent.
The second floor houses the gallery of mannequins who wear the dresses that Happy Andrada created for her Perya Collection at A. Venue.
The third floor has a mini-stage and a gallery of artworks with themes from pop art to abstract to new media.
We were oriented with the announcement of a new fashion designers group who called themselves FADAL (Fashion Designers Alliance) Manila. The vibrant group consists of:
President – Happy Andrada
Vice-President – Dax Bayani
Secretary – Jona Ballaran
Fiscal Developmental Directress – Jaz Cerezo
PRO – Yako Reyes
Media Liaison – Nat Manilag
Logistics and Marketing – Clint Catalan
Creator in Chief – Levenson Rodriguez
The group is composed of young and talented designers not only aiming to promote their creative works but also to foster a healthy, competitive and yet supportive community for newbie and experienced designers alike. The enthusiasm and eagerness of the group is quite admirable and with the list of events and promotions they have lined up, I'm sure we can look forward to hearing from them again soon.
After the short introduction of FADAL Manila, we were treated to a stand-up comedy act by Mr. Mike Unson. I laughed so hard at his jokes because they were sooo funny. I also admire they way he observes people around him to create new material and topics for his jokes. That is raw talent.
Next up was a magic show from Mr. Marcelle Fabie. I was asked to be a magician's assistant. I don't think I did a good job, hahaha I only offered more comic relief.
I had so much fun that night, I almost didn't want to attend because I had a deadline but I'm glad I did. This really made me re-think about my dreams of taking up Fashion design as a second degree. Hmmmm you'll never know. We'll see.
