May 23 was the date for this year's Free Comic Book Day at all Fully-booked branches. I was able to attend at the pilot store in Boni High Street and at Promenade Greenhills. A lot of people were already in line waiting for their free comic by the time I got there at around 11am. Each person in line was entitled to one free comic of their choice. There were quite a lot to choose from. Aside from the free comic being given away, the store also offered 20% discount on all graphic novels and comic book titles. This was the bulk of the crowd at the Boni High branch. I felt a little awkward and out of place being only one of the few girls checking out the titles on the shelves, there was an abundancy of male testosterone in the air.
I was aiming to get the Elektra graphic novel that I wanted by Frank Miller, but unfortunately they only had the hardbound version which was a little too expensive for me. Oh well, at least I got to familiarize myself a little more with the world of Marvel and DC.
