One Year in Plurk

Current Music: Don’t Wait, Dashboard Confessional Dusk and Summer Album

 

 

Well, it has been a year and still I prefer Plurk over Twitter. I have a Twitter account and I've only gotten as far as customizing my page and just syncing my plurks to appear as my tweets. Well that's about it. I peek at it every now and then but really not having that much fun with it.

Plurk on the other hand, was a new playground at first which evolved into a huge online buddy gathering for me. I've gotten close to several people that I've only known before in Plurk. It has also become an updated news aggregator for what's hot locally and internationally. Plurkers really know how to spread news faster than wildfire. Hahaha

Why it's better for me?

• The side-scrolling timeline lets me view everyone's updates interactively, allowing me to comment on the plurks that I want.
• It's more geared locally. So I'm much more in tune to what's happening in my country and to what my online friends are currently up to.
• This has been an events hub for me. I'm in the know immediately about the upcoming blogger events and meets.
• We get badges! Haha I know it's not much, but it's fun getting a badge for an accomplishment. (like having 50 or more fans)
• We can have an emoticon plurk riot. Everyone just goes crazy with emoticons and gifs.
• It's addicting. Well I know for some that's not a good thing but for me it is. Keeps me distracted at least from the stresses of work.
• It's a good sounding board for heartaches and "emo" comments.
• It's good for promoting your blog or your posts and get instant comments from peers.

So there, I don't know if they're going to add extra features to Plurk just yet but it's been great enough as it is. Do you have a Plurk account just yet? If not, then you're missing out.
