Halo Halo de Iloko

One of the most recommended restaurants that we should try out during our stay in La Union is Halo halo de Iloko. It is situated amidst the urban district of San Juan. It's not easy to miss, there's a huge wall logo right outside the restaurant.

It was decorated in a country style, which produced a rather cozy and homey feel…almost transcending the image of an old "Lola's house."

There's nothing fancy here, no plush chairs or floor length draperies, just humble bamboo furniture and tie dyed make shift shades. The restaurant wasn't big, the dining arrangements are quite cramped but a little shuffling here and there and everything's set.

The Food

The food was awesome. Which is to be expected of course! But everything was cooked just right and although there was an initial disclaimer that the waiting time here is quite long, when we ordered, the food got there just with the right amount of waiting time. We tried out the bagnet, the pinapaitan, sinigang na kambing and pinakbet. For dessert of course we had a serving of halo-halo.

This is definitely one food-stop that you've gotta try when you're in La Union. It lived up to the hype and its reputation. Their halo-halo is the best I've ever tasted so far.
