The Ramen Girl

11189_153_poster_1_fI've just finished watching this on Star Movies a few minutes ago and I liked it. The story is about an American girl who follows her boyfriend to Tokyo only to be dumped the very next day. He left her his apartment though. While dealing with a broken heart, she found new purpose to learn how to cook ramen from a master in a nearby Ramen shop. I was craving for Ramen the whole time I was watching this movie. Brittany Murphy's character Abby suffered many challenges while trying to learn from her master. It was interesting how they presented this in the movie and you can't help but feel for Abby as she struggled to learn. It wasn't only about her learning to cook, during the course of the movie she found love again and suffered another heartbreak. It was quite touching because I could totally relate to what she was feeling... the hopelessness and the dread.

I was crying at the very end. Haha So that's fair warning to keep a box of Kleenex on hand. The story wasn't that deep but I could relate to the daunting task of trying to move on from a heartbreak and trying to find purpose in your life again. I think Abby did just that and bounced back. Her sheer will and determination is a shining example to those who really just want to give up.
