Finally finished reading this last weekend as well. The Lost Symbol lived up to the hype at least. Although I really enjoyed reading the book and the plot, I can't help but feel that the whole book was a little bit biased and leaning in favor of the teachings of the Catholic Church. A means for Dan Brown to make amends? Well that we can't be certain but there's enough of Brown's brilliant storytelling which kept me reading on and staying up late.
The story revolved around Robert Langdon's involuntary role as a reluctant hero in saving his friend Peter Solomon's life. Peter Solomon is a high ranking 33rd degree Mason. The wild ride left me very curious again with the architectural buildings described in the book. As well as the detailed runes and symbols written on a secret pyramid that Langdon had to decrypt in order to unlock the Freemason's Ancient Mystery. The Ancient Mystery is supposedly a lost word that will only be revealed to a worthy man.
Apotheosis of George Washington
Dan Brown's trademark way of writing is still there and I can almost imagine Tom Hanks (if there will still be a movie from this book and if he will still be playing the lead) running around Washington figuring out the clues. I wonder who they'll cast as the female lead to play Katherine Solomon, Peter's sister.
Well if there will be a movie or not, the book is worth reading. Definitely something good for the Dan Brown fans out there.
