I've been an avid Firefox user for months now (could even be years haha), but ever since I was pestered (haha I'm only kidding D) to try out Google Chrome, I'm happy I've made the switch. So thank you for the internet tips and the suggestions.
Why I'm happy with it
Vast screen space.
The first thing I've noticed is the huge change in the browsing interface. The viewing window for the website now seems bigger without the additional buttons or toolbar menus hogging the space.
Less crashes.
I've seen a review for Chrome stating that it doesn't crash, it's not entirely true. It's happened to me twice. The good thing with Google Chrome though is each tab is isolated. If one tab crashes, your whole browser doesn't crash with it.
Speedy surfing.
This is one thing I've noticed too. Google Chrome opens up faster and while browsing, I can open multiple tabs at once and each one loads faster than it did while using Firefox.
The Omnibox
I love this feature. This is the key signature of Google Chrome. You can type in a URL or a search term on the all-purpose bar at the top of the browser and just press enter. It also has an automatic completion function. No more separate search boxes and address bars.
More Tab Control
You can drag a tab from the tab bar and have it open in a new window or if you have several Chrome windows open, you can drag and drop tabs in between the windows as well. You can also setup chrome to open a set of tabs upon launch which doesn't require a third party plug-in or extension. Because I've installed the developer version of Chrome, I get to enjoy the "pin tab" option. This is great because I not only protect the tab that I want, it also becomes a teeny icon at the top left of my browser, which frees up more space for my other tabs.
Dynamic Homepage
This reminded me a bit of the Speed Dial add-on but this time Chrome gives you a homepage with 9 screenshots of the sites you visit most often. Of course, you can change this to display just the homepage site that you like.
Cool Themes
I loved dressing up Chrome with various themes available made by artists and from Google itself. You can do this with Firefox too as an add-on but with Chrome, you don't have to download or install anything. You'll just have to go to the theme site, browse and choose which design you like best.
Incognito Mode
Like Internet Explorer 8, Chrome also offers a private-browsing option, dubbed the "incognito mode". This opens up a new window with the incognito icon and lets you browse any site without worrying about it showing up in your browsing history. Just a bit to remember though, while Chrome doesn't store any information, the website that you're browsing still might be logging your visit.
Extensions
When Chrome first came out, feedbacks included the lack of available extensions as opposed to the vast database available for Firefox. Thankfully, now developers have made several extensions for Chrome that will further enhance the Chrome browsing experience.
Keyboard Shortcuts
These are to make browsing a lot easier and quicker. There are a lot available (you can view them here) but I only use these.
CTRL+T - opens a new tab
CTRL+click on the link - opens the link in a new tab
CTRL+SHIFT+T - opens last closed tab
CTRL+SHIFT+link - opens the link in a new tab and switches to it
CTRL+SHIFT+B - opens the Bookmark Manager
F5 or CTRL+R - reloads the current page
--------------------
Although there are still a few bugs with Chrome and I still need to use other browsers from time to time, I’m definitely happier using this.
