Not being a sourpuss this brand new year but I have observed several trends?, or fads if you would like to call it, happening almost every new year. Some are quirky and almost to the point of hilarity while some are pretty noble and admirable, depending on the way you look at it I suppose.
Here's my list, at the end if you would like to contribute your own observations, feel free to leave it at the comment form.
New Year's Resolutions
Of course, topping the list. Everyone crams resolutions before New Year's eve. Listing them is the first step, actually doing what's on the list is the next one, keeping it is the last. This is a little bit cliché but this is something good. A new year signifies a fresh start for most people and what more better way to jumpstart it by presenting a "better" you. Which reminds me, I've only been halfway with mine..oops.
Planners
A lot of planners came out last month and everyone's all confused about which one to get. Well, what I've mostly observed is the first few months get actually filled up with entries, which gradually wanes as the year progresses. Very few can keep up diligently using their planners for the entire year. Proudly I might say, I'm one of these people. Woot!
Crash Diets
Diets have flown out of the window as soon as the holidays kicked in and most people have been invading the gyms or worse going on crash diets trying to lose the pounds they've gained. Of course, there's nothing wrong with trying to keep a healthy weight but the crash diets I don't approve of. I mean a glass of water or juice for dinner??? Come on. That's not healthy at all. Yeah you'll lose the pounds but your body will suffer because of it. If you're going on a diet to lose weight, the least you can do is to do it the proper way.
New Blogs
For some though, the idle time during the Christmas break wasn't spent on food bingeing, but on creating a new blog to be launched for the new year. I guess the start of the year also is a time for untapped creativity. More blogs to read, whoopiee!
New Looks and Makeovers
While some have new hobbies or blogs to keep themselves busy, other people re-invent themselves totally for the new year. New haircut, new fashion style or even a whole new outlook. While a "new" self is good, don't forget to still remain a little bit of the "old" you. After all, you wouldn't want to alienate any of your friends, do you?
Project 365
Ah, the photoblog of all photoblogs. Project 365, aims with the premise of "a photo a day" philosophy. I've started one. Although it sounds simple enough, it's pretty hard to keep it going for the entire year. I've tried one before and failed. Let's hope that this year I'll be able to see it through. If you have a tumblr account, you can follow my posts here and I'll also follow you.
Spic and Span
Amazingly at the start of the year, clutter is out of sight. People have rushed like crazy to clean up before the year ended. I've also done some cleaning of my own, hmmmmm now what to do with all that cleared space? Fill it up with new clutter before the end of 2010 I bet. hahaha
