A "Timely" gift

What is a kinetic watch? Kinetic watches do not need any type of battery, they are built with oscillating weights that are turned by the constant movement from the wrist, earning it's name from the Greek word "kinesis".

One such example of this kind of watch are Seiko kinetic Men's watches . They also have built-in sensors which tells the wearer if the watch has been inactive for 24 hours. If that's the case, the watch is placed into suspended animation, just give it a little shake and it will automatically reset the time and the date.

I can think of only one person who would appreciate such a watch from me, that would be my Dad. I've noticed that it's been quite a while since he has bought one for himself and this luxury gift would be perfect by the time his birthday rolls around. I can practically see how happy he would be.

One great benefit of a kinetic watch is how environmentally friendly it is because it doesn’t need any batteries, especially now that there is an ongoing “Green” campaign for the planet. One downside of this though, is that you need to have it tuned up every 5 to 10 years, but I’m sure it’s not much of a hassle if you can help the environment.
