Getting to own your own car has it's own perks and peeves. Yes it gets you conveniently where you need to go, sans the traffic but sometimes when you own a dated car, it can be prone to repairs. It would have been convenient to have Chicago auto repair on speed dial but locally and if it's an inopportune time then you're in a lot of trouble.
I used to own a Toyota Corolla back in college and it wasn't a new car. Since it had its toll in years, I often find myself checking it in a mechanic shop. It really was eating through the little savings I had left from my college allowance. There was even an incident when I had to get the water pump replaced. It's a good thing that I have good guy friends who I can call on when I'm having car trouble.
Now, thankfully I don't have much car troubles anymore since purchasing a new car. Up until now, I think it’s the best investment I've made so far.
