Oh it's a Jellyfish

The only encounter I've had with a jellyfish was while I was on vacation at Puerto Galera and the water was infested with them. These were just teeny, tiny ones. So not like the ones that can be seen in Finding Nemo where Dory got stung. Anyway, getting stung even by just the small ones is equally bad. I had marks on my arm and it hurt a lot.

Nevertheless, they're still fascinating to me. Well that is until I saw this picture.

This is a Lions Mane Jellyfish, currently the largest jellyfish in the world. If I'd ever have to luck to be able to go diving and I encounter one of these, I'd be terrified. Just look at how big it is! It will be like an undersea nightmare. The largest ones have been recorded to grown at 6meters and their tentacles can go for over 50 meters in length. Just wow! Studies have even shown that they've been in the arctic waters even before the time of the dinosaurs and the species is still alive today! Can you believe it?

At least now I know that there are other creatures more resilient than the icky-disgusting cockroach.
