Meet the Characters in RoboCop

Monday, January 27, 2014 , 0 Comments

Unless you’ve been living under a rock and doesn’t know that there’s an upcoming new RoboCop movie in the next month, read on and see what the movie will be all about. The movie is set in year 2028 and it’s all about robotics especially for the company, OmniCorp which is the forerunner in the robotic industry. OmniCorp sees an opportunity in capitalizing on bringing a part-man, part-robot police officer in every city even amidst the controversy. Their guinea pig was Alex Murphy (Joel Kinnaman), an officer from Detroit who was critically injured in the line of duty. Thus, RoboCop was born. What they didn’t expect was there was still a man inside the machine.

Object Creation and Lots of Imagination with Scribblenauts Unlimited

Saturday, January 25, 2014 , 0 Comments

One of the games that I received during the holidays was Scribblenauts Unlimited. I was so thankful for the long holiday break because I got to spend more time with my family and I finally had time to play some games. Scribblenauts Unlimited had been on my Steam wishlist for quite some time and I was drawn to it because I loved the idea that you can create just about anything to solve the tasks in the game. Plus it also had these adorable graphics and I was just charmed.

Healthy Green Breakfast Juice Recipe

Friday, January 24, 2014 , 0 Comments

I’ve brought out my juicer again and tried out this delicious green breakfast juice recipe. I think it’s going to be my favorite. The ingredients are readily available and you can make large batches to chill and enjoy for several days. I found this especially refreshing to drink before breakfast. Ideally 2 hours before a meal.

You will need:
2 large cucumber pieces cut into strips or cubes for ease of putting in the juicer

Fun Food Stands

Wednesday, January 22, 2014 , 0 Comments

Back at the office, my phone rests on a shoe stand that a friend gave me from Singapore. Here at home, I have one that’s shaped like a miniature beach chair. Here’s some more fun stands for your smartphone, but these ones have the capacity to trigger spontaneous food cravings. Wondering why? See below.

2014 Book Review #1: The Signature of All Things by Elizabeth Gilbert

Monday, January 20, 2014 , 0 Comments

For my first book in this year’s Goodreads Reading Challenge, I’m off to a good start. I’ve finished The Signature of All Things by Elizabeth Gilbert. When I first heard about it, I got pretty excited because I had loved Eat, Pray, Love and this new book had a good buzz and it had a pretty book cover. I was psyched to see Ms. Gilbert’s talent in writing period fiction and I wasn’t disappointed in the least. I was immediately swept away into the world and drama of the Whitaker family.

My Hiatus and Contemplations

Monday, January 20, 2014 0 Comments

You’ve probably noticed my one-week hiatus by now and I apologize that I haven’t had the chance to update my blog at all. On Tuesday last week (January 14), my dad passed away. His battle with liver cancer was finally over. My father was just 57 and much too young.

It’s very rare when both the geek and bookworm in me scream in unison for a particular product and for the book entitled, S., I just couldn’t help myself. Why ever not? For a J.J. Abrams fan, this was something that I REALLY WANT to have.

Walking with Dinosaurs 3d Movie Review

Sunday, January 12, 2014 , 0 Comments

Can you imagine living when the dinosaurs roamed the Earth? Or much less be like one of the little guys doing their best to co-exist with creatures that are larger than life and battling to be on the top of the food chain. Even if they say that only the strongest are fit to survive, sometimes it takes more than muscle and ferocity to be able to fight your way up.

Secrets of the Immortal Book Series

Sunday, January 12, 2014 , 0 Comments

One of the best book series I’ve read last year was Secrets of the Immortal Nicholas Flamel. I had become so engrossed by it that I read it book after book. I became very curious about how Nicholas Flamel came by his immortality and what he had to give up for it. Little did I know that the series will take me on an exciting ride, read about loveable characters from history and mythology and be thoroughly immersed in a world of adventure that’s never too big for one’s imagination.

Here’s yet another Lego set that will entice collectors. It’s now official that The Simpsons are getting their own Lego set and they’ll only be available for a retail price of $199 for the US and $299 in Canada. That is good news for fans and collectors who will definitely want their hands on this set. From the official photos released, it’s looking to be pretty good. Fans of The Simpsons will be amused at the references and design elements that are straight from the show itself.

Awesome Disney Villains Perfumes

Saturday, January 11, 2014 , 0 Comments

On bouts of inspiration, artists can create something uniquely creative that sometimes you’d wonder how no one has ever thought of it before. As in the case of the awesomely designed Disney Villains Perfumes made by the imaginings of the artist Ruby Sparks. Doesn’t that name sound familiar? It does remind me a lot of this movie that I watched before of the same name. Check out this artist’s work though.

Metabolism-Boosting Juice Recipe

Friday, January 10, 2014 0 Comments

My second attempt at discovering great and healthy juice recipes led me to this pin at Pinterest. Its effects were said to boost metabolism. That’s good right? When you reach a certain age, your metabolism slows down so if this juice really is going to jumpstart it, why not? Here are the ingredients needed for this juice recipe.

Of Samurai Warriors, Witches and Dragons: 47 Ronin Movie Review

Thursday, January 09, 2014 , 0 Comments

If we’re all living the timeline during Feudal Japan, a Ronin would be a samurai without land and no lord or master. 47 Ronin is a film based on a true tale and from this is an ambitious undertaking captured on the big screen.

Popcorn Nights: Hope Springs

Wednesday, January 08, 2014 , 0 Comments

What happens when two supposed soulmates get married only to grow apart through the years? In Hope Springs, we get to explore this scenario as Kay (Meryl Streep) desperately tries to rekindle a romantic relationship with her estranged husband, Arnold (Tommy Lee Jones). This heartwarming film was what kept me smiling all weekend. If you think, seeing an old couple re-discover each other once again is uninteresting, think again.

2014 New Balance runDisney shoes

Wednesday, January 08, 2014 0 Comments

What most surely comes right after the holidays is the mad rush to get a fit bod in time for summer here in the Philippines. January is the prime time when people bring out the workout gear that have been shoved all the way to the back of the closet. Since I work very near the Ayala Triangle, I could see all the people jogging around the park. While stuck in traffic, I could actually see what’s the latest in workout gear. What I want to see though are these 2014 New Balance runDisney shoes

Cook, Serve, Delicious! A Fun Cooking Game

Saturday, January 04, 2014 , , 0 Comments

Not long ago, I was searching for a good cooking game that I could play on my tablet. I was sadly missing some of the cooking games that I played before like Cooking Mama and Cooking Academy. With that nostalgia, I began my search in the Google Play Store. My search eventually led me to discover Cook, Serve, Delicious! by Vertigo Gaming. It could be what I was in search for, a game that was fun and not too complicated. Here’s my playthrough.

Walking with Dinosaurs 3d

Friday, January 03, 2014 , , 0 Comments

What’s your favorite dinosaur movie? I think mine would be a tie between Jurassic Park and The Land Before Time. With the advent of impressive 3d graphics available today, most movie that we see today almost always employ the use of CGI (computer generated imagery) to bring realism into key scenes that would otherwise be impossible to represent visually. Using the most advanced technology in CGI developed by Animal Logic, comes a new dinosaur movie that we can all marvel at.

Detoxifying Green Juice

Wednesday, January 01, 2014 , 0 Comments

The month of December of the Holidays is usually the time when all diets fly out the window. One can mostly expect some unwanted weight gain and the predictable giving in to the temptation of eating unhealthy food (hello crispy pata). This made me very excited to use the Matstone Low Speed Multi-purpose Juicer that I got for Christmas. The first juicing recipe that I got to try was this detoxifying green juice.

Welcoming the New Year

Wednesday, January 01, 2014 0 Comments

Around 15 minutes before midnight, scattered fireworks can already be heard in our neighborhood then at midnight, it was on full blast. 2014 is finally here and as I look back at the passing year, all I can say is…”What a year it was.” 2013 was hard and it tested me in every way possible. Sure I had stumbled but I surprised myself by finding an inner strength that I didn’t know I had. Now I face 2014 with a brave face and more determination than I had before.
