Friday, October 31, 2014 , 0 Comments

It looks like we’re all pretty much set with satiating our Marvel movie appetites as the movie schedule for Marvel until 2019 is released. Marvel Studios President, Kevin Feige has just revealed at an event at the El Capitan Theatre the list of movies that gives the geek in me such great joy. :D I simply can’t wait for them to work their magic on the upcoming sequels and big-screen debuts of other popular heroes in the Marvel Universe.

It was April of this year when I received the BDJ Box which contained Pixy Products. I’ve now finished with the Ultimate Makeup Cake and have been using the UV Whitening Two-Way Cake for about a month now. So far, I’m really loving this matte powder on my face.

Fury

Tuesday, October 21, 2014 , 0 Comments

Just the title of the movie itself already makes it sound so badass. Well, that was my first reaction when I saw the poster and then my eyes wandered on over who the actors in the film were. Brad Pitt, Shia LaBeouf, Logan Lerman, Jason Isaacs and Michael Pena..all of which have created names for themselves in Hollywood. Fury is currently the number one movie in the US Box Office last week and I'm pleased to let you know that it opens tomorrow here in the Philippines.

The Book of Life Movie Review

Tuesday, October 21, 2014 , 0 Comments

Most people associate Halloween with a lot of frightening things. It’s that time of the year when ghouls, monsters and creepy crawlies revel in the spotlight. In Mexico though, it’s a little bit different. They celebrate Dia de los Muertos. Owing to the mixed influences in their culture, the tradition is observed in color and in an abundance of food offerings for the souls of their loved ones. It is the inspiration behind the animated movie, The Book of Life. It’s also a spectacular adventure delving deep into the Mexican lore that would tickle the fancy of viewers of all ages.

Skull Candies for Halloween

Monday, October 20, 2014 0 Comments

Sorry I haven’t been updating much these days. My schedule has gotten crazy busy the past week and I’m still slowly getting a grip on it. Don’t fret though, it looks like I’ve gotten things under control and I’m now raring to start my work week. Also look forward to more frequent updates from now on. :)

Can you believe that Halloween is just around the corner? I sometimes can’t believe how fast time passes. It seems only yesterday when we were greeting the New Year with fresh starts and New Year Resolutions. Soon it’ll be the holidays once again. First though, Halloween makes me think of candy too much. Maybe that’s why while browsing through Behance, this is what caught my eye.

A Dark Hero's Tale: Dracula Untold

Tuesday, October 14, 2014 , 0 Comments

Anyone in the waking world would easily associate the name Dracula synonymously with the term vampire. In the world of fantasy, they're the blood drinkers and are most commonly associated with pale skin and fear of sunlight. Although many other vampires have made names for themselves, few could ever match the notoriety and legend that follows Dracula's name. Most people also do not know that the legend was also loosely based on a real person, Vlad the Impaler.
Dracula-Untold-movie-review
Dracula Untold is a retelling of Dracula's story, how he came to be and how he had chosen a dark path. Vampires have always fascinated me but since the onset of the teen vampire novels, they have been losing their edge. I expected this movie to bring back the infamy and respect that Dracula rightfully deserved. For that, Luke Evans in the starring role of Prince Vlad III, did an amazing job.

Rosamund Pike in Gone Girl

Thursday, October 09, 2014 , , 0 Comments

One of the most beautiful actresses who has ever graced the big screen is Rosamund Pike. She has this classic beauty and elegance that makes you just want to watch her. These are one of the qualities that made firector David Fincher choose Rosamund Pike for the highly challenging role of Amy Dunne, one of the lead roles in the movie Gone Girl.

Sun Protection with the Heroine Make Sunkiller Perfect Strong Plus

Wednesday, October 08, 2014 , 0 Comments

The common misconception when it comes to the use of any sunblock product is the restriction that it should only be used during the summer months. I don't know about you but I've really noticed the climate changes that have been going on for several years. There are days and weeks that can go by where temperatures rise up to scorching levels during the daytime. The typhoons have become stronger and more erratic as well. In my part of the world, we're almost reaching the end of monsoon season and yet it was blazing hot when we were on an out of town trip last weekend.

Dracula Untold: Trailer and Poster

Monday, October 06, 2014 , 0 Comments

Did you guys know that the myth of Dracula was inspired by a real person? That man is known in history as Vlad the Impaler. He was a member of the House of Draculesti (sounds familiar?) He was so called because he liked to impale his enemies. The movie that I’m most excited about this month is a fusion of history and fantasy with Vlad right in the middle. Here comes Dracula Untold.

The Book of Life Movie Featurette

Friday, October 03, 2014 , 0 Comments

Whenever I see the trailer for The Book of Life, I can’t help but become giddy seeing the character designs and scenes. I’m so in-love with the style! It’s perfectly reminiscent of the Dia de Los Muertos patterns I’ve seen while doing my research for a mail exchange I’ve signed up for.

2014 Book Review #21: Ancestor by Scott Sigler

Friday, October 03, 2014 , 0 Comments

I’ve always had this fascination with the advances in the field of Medicine and while it holds my utmost curiosity, I know that it’s a field not for me. I know of the importance of organ transplants and how the procedure can save countless of lives. What if someone came up with a feasible technology similar to that shown in the movie Bicentennial Man, wouldn’t that be amazing? This novel, Ancestor by Scott Sigler, touches a little bit about the subject but is concentrated more on the dark side. Aside from the genetics and medical discoveries, it narrates just how much people are going to go through for success, money and recognition from this kind of medical endeavor.

Last Night's Ordeal and the Worsening Traffic

Thursday, October 02, 2014 0 Comments

I was planning a night of blogging and calligraphy last night as soon as I got home from work. It usually takes me around an hour and a half to get home from Makati to Antipolo. This is because I get to leave right before rush hour starts, if I delay a few minutes longer beyond 5pm, it will take me an hour just to get out of Makati alone. That's how bad traffic is here. Last night, I was reminded of how that "bad" could easily become "worse" to "utter chaos". Notice that I immediately jumped from the superlative "worst" and straight to that description.

Before I continue on with my tale of woe regarding the traffic last night, let me give you a clearer picture. There was a heavy downpour right before 5pm and this resulted in major flooding on main roads. As expected, commuters were stranded and a lot of vehicles got stuck on roads where they couldn't pass.

The Invasion of the Black Burgers

Wednesday, October 01, 2014 , , 0 Comments

As we enter into October, we can now feel the spirit of Halloween in the air. Just last night at a premiere that I went to, a couple of the trailers shown were horror movies. I'm already anticipating Halloween updates to the games I've been playing as well. It is only a matter of time then before this theme also shows up in our food. It had already started in Japan with the appearance of the black burgers.

The forerunner of the Black Burgers is the Kuro Burger from Burger King. The buns are mixed in with Bamboo charcoal before baking and it is additionally garnished with ketchup infused with squid ink and of course, black cheese. The Kuro Burger seems to be a success because it had been in the market for 3 years now and there was quite a positive reception for it.
