Free Android Game: Wedding Escape

Sunday, December 27, 2015 , 0 Comments

I’ve been playing this game non-stop on my tablet for several days now and I must admit that I am quite hooked. I saw this while browsing for new games to try out on the Google Play Store and I got curious about how quirky it was. Wedding Escape is primarily a standard matching puzzle game but with a funny theme, you must help the protagonist escape his/her wedding. Oh yes, they dared to make one and they did a pretty good job.

Independence Day: Resurgence Releases First Trailer

Wednesday, December 23, 2015 , , , 0 Comments

I have a confession to make. Way back when, my go to movie as background noise had been Independence Day. Yes, I’ve watched Will Smith go head to head with aliens and Bill Pullman make that inspiring speech. I’m as surprised and thrilled as you are when they announced that there is going to be a sequel to that much-loved film. Independence Day: Resurgence sees the world harnessing what they have learned from the previous alien invasion into weapons for defense.

Thornton vs Bullock in Our Brand is Crisis

Tuesday, December 22, 2015 , , 0 Comments

When I saw the trailer for Our Brand is Crisis, I immediately told myself that it would be one of the movies I’m watching out for next year. I’ve always loved Sandra Bullock’s style of acting especially in a role that demonstrates a lot of passion and emotion. In this film, it would be no exception. As she goes head to head with Billy Bob Thornton’s character, it’s gonna be THE political showdown to watch on film.

Character Posters for the Ghostbusters Movie Reboot

Tuesday, December 22, 2015 , , 0 Comments

I grew up watching episodes of the original Ghostbusters cartoons while my babysitter was tending to my younger sister. I’ve always been a timid and good kid, just put me in front of the TV and I’m all set. My childhood memories will always be filled with memories of Slimer, Stay Puff and the Ghostbusters. Thirty years after, they’ve decided to reboot the series for a new generation and this time around it is led by a female team. The Ghostbusters reboot from Columbia Pictures is set for release July next year.

Movie Posters for The Big Short

Tuesday, December 22, 2015 0 Comments

One movie that I’m looking forward to next year is The Big Short. For a movie that brings together such a powerhouse cast consisting of Christian Bale, Steve Carell, Ryan Gosling, Brad Pitt, Melissa Leo, Hamish Linklater, John Magaro, Rafe Spall, Jeremy Strong, Marisa Tomei and Finn Wittrock, it’s definitely something to watch out for. Oh and yes, you read it right, Ryan Gosling is back making movies again, woohoo!

The Huntsman: Winter’s War Movie Posters

Saturday, November 21, 2015 , , , 0 Comments

Back in 2012, I immensely enjoyed the fantastic re-telling of the classic Snow White fairytale where stars like Kristen Stewart played the role of Snow White and Charlize Theron as the Evil Queen, Ravenna. Snow White and the Huntsman was a refreshing look into the personality of Snow White, where she wasn’t portrayed as someone frail. If you have time, do check it out before seeing the sequel, The Huntsman: Winter’s War which will come out sometime in April next year.

The Women of Spectre

Monday, November 02, 2015 , , 0 Comments

While James Bond always exudes a strong male presence in the Bond films, the women that make his life more interesting almost always share the spotlight. It’s been a status symbol to be called a Bond girl and in the upcoming film Spectre, the women in Bond’s life are Monica Bellucci and Lea Seydoux. After turning down previous offers for the franchise due to scheduling conflicts, Monica Bellucci finally joins the roster as a mysterious but beautiful Italian widow named Sciarra. She feared for her life in the event of her husband’s death. Bond must gain her trust to gain the information he needs.

Sienna Miller Stars in Burnt

Sunday, November 01, 2015 , , 0 Comments

I have a very soft spot for cooking-themed movies and in just a few days, the movie Burnt will star Sienna Miller alongside Bradley Cooper. Burnt is a movie featuring a two-star Michelin chef who lost his way as he gave way to his addictions. Sienna Miller plays the role of Helene, a chef personally chosen by Adam (Bradley Cooper) to help him reclaim his status in the world of cooking.

The Dressmaker Movie Review

Saturday, October 31, 2015 , 0 Comments

We all heard just how formative our childhood years can be in shaping who we are as adults. As much as we try to deny its importance, it’s amazing just how accurate the studies can be. Maybe, it’s Rosalie Ham had in mind while she was writing her novel of the same title. If you had a bad childhood, what would make you want to face it again? I couldn’t help but think of this question as the opening scenes of the movie, The Dressmaker came onto the big screen.

Kate Winslet’s Revenge Through Fashion in The Dressmaker

Can you really get revenge from the people who did you wrong through fashion? This was what Tilly Dunnage (Kate Winslet) had in mind when she returned to the sleepy town of Dungatar after conquering the world of couture in Milan and Paris. Set in 1951, Tilly’s other agenda is to take care of her eccentric and ailing mother Molly, (Judy Davis).

Fifth and Final Scream for the Paranormal Activity Movies

Monday, October 19, 2015 , , , 0 Comments

Eight years ago, when I first saw the original Paranormal Activity film, it blew my mind and I couldn’t sleep without the light off for a week. Yes, I was that scared. In my opinion, they should have stopped there. However, we all know how much profit could be gained from these kinds of horror films so there had been sequel after sequel of the franchise. I personally found the fourth one too weird and freaky. Cults and such? *shudder*

Little Lazies’ Monsters

Monday, October 19, 2015 , , 0 Comments

Since starting calligraphy, I’ve started looking into related fields in the art of doodling. It had always been a frustration of mine, being able to just doodle freely and create these wonderful quirky scenes starting only with a blank piece of paper. I’ve attended a character workshop before and it was so much fun. I’ve always wanted to create critters of my own. So, I’ve always been drawn to cute monsters and characters either in 2d or 3d form. When I saw these monsters from the Etsy shop called Little Lazies, I simply couldn’t resist.

Bradley Cooper in Burnt

Saturday, October 17, 2015 , , , 0 Comments

Ever since he came out on the big screen, there had been nothing but good movies to and fro under Bradley Cooper’s belt. We’ve seen him in action films and rom com’s that has him winning every woman’s heart. Here in his latest film, Burnt, he plays a chef, a role that is very close to his heart. In the movie he plays the role of Chef Adam Jones, a very talented chef who has earned fame and respect in the culinary world with two Michelin stars under his belt. However, he also has bad habits to match.

Have a Discovery APEC Holiday

There are so many things that I’m excited for next month, first and foremost...it’s my birthday month. However, I’m looking at it at a personal level, for the rest of the Filipinos though, November means the long APEC weekend that is set for Nov 16 to 22nd. Oh yes, it’s an incredibly long weekend for us. APEC you say? Here’s a little something about the APEC holiday. APEC stands for the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation and it’s a forum for Pacific Rim members that promotes free trade throughout the Asia-Pacific region.

Why Drinking Lemon Water is Good for You

Tuesday, October 13, 2015 0 Comments

I've never been a fan of drinking just a plain glass of water. I find it well, too boring for my taste. This is why I always find it hard to drink the recommended amount of glasses in an entire day. Thankfully, I can easily spice it up with slices of lemon or cucumber. Everyday, my morning routine involves me drinking a cup of coffee. It is my energizer for the day. However, studies have shown that it may be more beneficial to drink warm water with a slice of lemon instead. Here's why:

Final Trailer for Spectre Revealed

Monday, October 05, 2015 , , , 0 Comments

I firmly believe that any film with Christoph Waltz playing as the movie’s main villain will be extremely entertaining to watch. He plays such a complex and interesting persona when he sides with the bad guys. In Spectre, also the last film where Daniel Craig will be reprising his role as James Bond, Christoph Waltz will face-off with Craig as mind-boggling connections are revealed in the movie’s plot between the two.

Life, Old Age and the Joys of Work in The Intern

Wednesday, September 23, 2015 , 0 Comments

Where do you see yourself in 10 years? That’s probably the most common and the most cliché question heard in most interviews, however, here in The Intern it is placed in a context wrapped in playful humor that gently ushers in thoughts of the harsh realities of life and old age. Last night, at the premiere of the movie, The Intern, I got to see the value of life experiences and how friendship knows no age and how passion and ambition can directly affect lives when it is manifested in such intensity.

Carmageddon Over and Over

Friday, September 11, 2015 0 Comments

My daily routine already includes several hours of being stuck in traffic. After enduring this for several years now, I've learned how to adapt and make the most of the hours I spend on the road. This is why I have started to appreciate the joy of listening to audiobooks. Not only do they make the traffic less daunting, I also don't experience road rage as much anymore. However, there are really times when traffic takes a turn from worse, to worst and then to a nightmarish carmageddon.

For those not in the know, here's the definition of carmageddon from the Urban Dictionary.

Hello New Work Week

Monday, September 07, 2015 0 Comments

Cheers to a brand new month! Well technically, we're already on the second week but it's never too late to say hello to September. The "ber" months signify the start of the Christmas season in the Philippines and I won't be surprised if I will see holiday decor already being sold in stores. The past three months for me hasn't been really smooth sailing and I was forced to take a long hard look at what's been happening in my life and well, I think I can say now that I'm willing to see the blue skies finally after quite a time. I also haven't written personal posts here and I've noticed the disconnect. Now, I think it's high time to make some changes.

Why do Spies in Movies Always Look Good?

Tuesday, September 01, 2015 , , , 0 Comments

I've been a long time fan of anything involving spies. I've read books, played games and of course, watched dozens of movies. Although they have similar plots, same flaunting of various gadgets and almost always a showcase of really sleek looking cars, there's another constant that make me wonder why the spies themselves always have to be very good looking. Kinda makes you think if when they're applying for the job, one requirement would be - exceptional good looks. Why this short narration? Well, you can't really unsee the two gorgeous men in the recently shown, The Man from U.N.C.L.E.

Meryl Streep takes on Rock n Roll in Ricki and the Flash

Friday, August 28, 2015 , , 0 Comments

While having breakfast last weekend, I actually got to see a featurette on this upcoming film starring Meryl Streep. In Ricki and the Flash, she plays the role of a “rocker” of sorts as Ricki Rendazzo. During her youth, she gave up a lot of things including the security of having a family to chase her dreams of rock and roll stardom. Years later, she can now redeem herself.

Upcoming Film: Victor Frankenstein

Tuesday, August 25, 2015 , , , 0 Comments

It has been a while since we’ve last seen Daniel Radcliffe on the big screen. In my mind, he’s still the iconic Mr. Potter from the wizarding world of Hogwarts. However, come November, he’ll be playing the role of Igor, the trusted friend and companion of Victor Frankenstein, played by James McAvoy. The movie is in keeping with the heritage of the original book by Mary Shelley but with a new spin to the tale.

The Martian Second Official Trailer Revealed

Tuesday, August 25, 2015 , , , 0 Comments

One of the great and enjoyable reads I’ve had this year was The Martian by Andy Weir and I just can’t help but look forward to seeing the book adapted for the big screen. What made the book very engaging was Mark Watney’s personality. I think Matt Damon will actually pull it off. The movie boasts of an all star cast as well with Jessica Chastain, Kate Mara, Kristen Wiig and Sean Bean in tow.

I love watching coming of age movies and I can’t help but look forward to the movie adaptation of “Me and Earl and the Dying Girl”. Directed by Alfonso Gomez-Rejon, it is my sincere hope that the movie will capture the spirit of the book.

The Return of the Shake Shake Fries

For the past week or so, my friend L had been raving about McDonald’s Shake Shake Fries. Let me tell you, when you’re in the middle of the work day and all you’ve had for a snack are just plain crackers, you’ll start to get pretty bad cravings. So after driving in traffic for hours last Friday, I swung by the drive-thru and got myself a serving. All smiles after that. :D

Meeting the Directors of Inside Out

Last week, I had the chance to attend a press conference for the movie Inside Out. Featured in the event are co-directors, Pete Docter and Ronnie del Carmen. Aside from having enjoyed the movie already a week before (review coming out next by the way), it was exciting to get to meet the brains behind the wonderful movie that was already making waves abroad. It’s interesting to note that Ronnie del Carmen is a Filipino who was born and raised in Cavite and this was a homecoming to him of sorts.

Random Things Monday v.04

Monday, August 03, 2015 0 Comments

Hello there and welcoming a brand new month and the first day of the work week. I’ve got a pretty busy week ahead and just before the craziness of the week starts, here are some interesting news for you while you’re drinking your first cup of coffee.

Congratulations Ronda!
I’m a big fan of Ronda Rousey and we are celebrating her phenomenal win over Bethe Correia who was knocked out in 34 seconds. She is the first and current UFC Women’s Bantamweight Champion. She is known to trash talk but she is courteous. She has been dissed for her “masculine body” but she has answered this issue with so much class. Plus, she is gorgeous but offers inspiration for women to be taken more seriously not just because of how they looked.
