My Favorite Shows on the Nat Geo Channel

Tuesday, June 30, 2015 0 Comments

I have stopped turning on the TV at home for a time because I’ve been glued to my computer screen for most of my 24 hours daily. On the rare times that I do though, I chance upon shows that easily becomes a part of my must-watch list. I’ve been watching these two shows on the National Geographic Channel and I must say, I can’t get enough.

Just for Fun

I’ve seen so many of my friends on Facebook try out the app from How You Are. So I got curious. Just for fun, I tried it out one afternoon.  Curious about my result? Smile with tongue out

Opening This Week: Terminator Genisys

Monday, June 29, 2015 , , 0 Comments

Just when you thought that the Terminator movie franchise is over, here comes Terminator Genisys. To be clear, director Alan Taylor wants viewers to know that this is not a remake, nor a reboot, nor a sequel even. It’s actually a “reimagining” based from the original James Cameron source material. I’ve gotten confused with the time paradox timeline of the Terminator movies before but Taylor insists that viewers don’t need to have prior knowledge of the films to be able to enjoy this movie. The film does employ the original Terminator in its cast. Arnold Schwarzenegger stars as the Guardian.

The Story of Q in Paper Towns

Sunday, June 28, 2015 , , 0 Comments

One of the most loved novels from John Green is Paper Towns, I read it immediately after going through the tear-jerker novel, The Fault in our Stars. Predictably, I loved it. Now that it’s going to have its own movie adaptation, I’m hoping that audiences will come to know why fans of the book loved the character of Q.

The Water Diviner

Sunday, June 28, 2015 , 0 Comments

Just before Father’s Day weekend last week, I got to watch a movie that was perfect for portraying just how strong a father’s love can be. The Water Diviner features Russel Crowe in the starring role and also in the directorial seat. The latter was a pleasant surprise and it immediately spurred my curiosity, more so when I saw Jai Courtney’s name on the screen too.

9 More Uses for your Cellphone Camera

Sunday, June 28, 2015 0 Comments

When you find yourself outside, say at a mall. Try and sit still for one moment and observe the people around you. There’s a high chance that most people that you will see will mostly likely be fiddling around with their phones, more specifically their phone cameras. I tried this once while I was waiting for the call time for a premiere and all around me were people taking selfies (yes, in public!) and group shots (they call them groufies I think), or photos of their food. In fact, the most used feature in smart phones today are not their productivity functions at all but the phone camera. How do you use it for productivity? Read on.

First Glimpse: Attack on Titan

Monday, June 22, 2015 , , , 0 Comments

During the press luncheon for the Father’s Day treat at Discovery Suites several weeks ago, I got into conversation with my friend, Az of Azrael’s Merryland about the live action film Attack on Titan. I must’ve been deep into the calligraphy world (check out my Instagram) because I swore I haven’t heard of the manga it was based from. Now that I’ve seen the trailer, o-m-g! I swear, I’m not going to miss this film.

Durable and Cute Beatrix Bags

Back when I was still in school, I was the resident nerd (I still proudly am). I never left any of my books behind and I had several notebooks full of lessons and research notes per subject. That is how much I loved to write, which is probably why I'm so into calligraphy now. I carried everything in my bag and since it was always packed with heavy things, it doesn't last me more than 3 months.

The Minions are Back in Happy Meals

Ever since these adorable yellow creatures made their first appearance in the movie, Despicable Me, the Minions can be found everywhere! Kids and adults alike have collected various Minions merchandise. They were sold out during the first set of released McDonald’s Happy Meals and now, right before the release of their very own movie (yes! they have their own movie now), the Minions are back in Happy Meals once again.

We’re already way into the middle of the year, can you believe that? 2015 is almost over and hopefully you’ve been having a meaningful year so far. This may be the chance to get that much needed escape. I was thinking along these lines when I posted this on my IG account early this morning.

I got a number of very good responses in that post too and I’m also delighted to share with you this very good news. Just in time too because this sale only lasts until tomorrow, June 19th.

A Harley Davidson Kind of Father’s Day at Discovery Suites

Thursday, June 18, 2015 , 0 Comments

There is one day of the year where fathers feel most special and for this year, Father’s Day can be made extraordinary. For most of us, fathers are the foremost strong male figure in our lives. One way to celebrate is to treat them to a one-of-a-kind feast at the Discovery Suites. Together with Harley Davidson, fathers will enjoy a sumptuous meal during their special day. I was fortunate enough to sample the kind of dishes that they will be treated to on Father’s Day during a recently held press luncheon.

The lunch and dinner menu was inspired by the old and modern Harley Davidson bikes. The meal starts with a delightful serving of Dyna Prime’s Seafood Gumbo Soup. Now I’ve had my fair share of seafood soups but I’ve never had one that was quite tasty with every bite.

Jurassic World: Dinosaurs vs. Dino-hybrid

Tuesday, June 16, 2015 , 0 Comments

I had a very great time watching a marathon of several Jurassic Park movies over this long weekend after having watched Jurassic World on opening day. It gave me better appreciation of the original films and the latest one starring Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas-Howard. They said it was what Jurassic Park was intended to be. In many ways it is and in some ways it is not. I psyched myself with an open mind while watching Jurassic World, I was intentionally preventing myself from comparing it to the first film.

Late Post: Random Things Monday v.02

My apologies for the late post because my Monday got a bit too crazy and hectic. Busy but productive nonetheless. So here’s keeping stress at bay with some more random goodies and interesting things found on the interwebs.

GREEN GHOST TOWN
What happens when an abandoned fishing village is taken over by Mother Nature? The result is an eery yet enchantingly beautiful green ghost town. These are photos take by the Chinafotopress of a fishing village on the Shengshan Island in China. Its habitants abandoned it in the late 90’s.

A Different Ryan Reynolds in The Voices

Sunday, June 14, 2015 , 0 Comments

Writing this review had me thinking when I saw Ryan Reynolds for the first time in a movie. Of course, one cannot forget about his iconic role in Van Wilder: Party Liason. Back then, he began to be associated with that certain kind of comedic roles. Good thing action roles trickled in and he became Hannibal in Blade: Trinity, as Green Lantern and as Deadpool.
Still, it was only when I saw him in The Voices did I get to see the other facets of his acting talent.

Random Things Monday v01

Hello to a brand new work week and while you’re still enjoying your first cup o’ Joe this morning, let me share some interesting things I saw on the web today.

Tempescope
I have a weather app on my tablet and although I do check it constantly, I don’t go into the habit of knowing what the weather is during my everyday routine. If you constantly want to be in the know, while you’re about to get out the door and without opening your tablet or phone…the answer comes in this nifty invention.

Loving a New Camera App, Cymera

Sunday, June 07, 2015 , , 0 Comments

One of the new camera apps I’ve discovered recently is Cymera. It’s a camera and photo editing app in one. I’m not a fan of taking selfies but I do use my phone extensively for taking photos while at an event or when posting my calligraphy works on Instagram.

San Andreas, The Big One

Tuesday, June 02, 2015 , 0 Comments

One of the greatest forces of destruction on Earth is an earthquake. We’ve all seen the devastation it can bring, especially the strong ones. The fear, the danger, it’s all just too real. This is why when disaster movies come along, people flock to see it. However, there are several factors that can guarantee its success. It has to have a good plot, a great set of actors and an extremely talented effects team. Thankfully, the movie San Andreas has all three. Read on why it’s been the movie to see since its release last week.

The Adventure that is Tomorrowland

Monday, June 01, 2015 , 0 Comments

When I first saw the trailer for the movie, Tomorrowland, it looked to be pretty interesting. I didn’t know then that it was based from a section of Disneyland, I even became more intrigued. I’ve always had such fascination when it came to cities of the future and the prospect of seeing how they designed Tomorrowland was enough for me to eagerly anticipate seeing the movie on its opening day.
