Aboard the Spaceship Avalon in the Passengers Movie

Friday, December 30, 2016 , 0 Comments

What if you’ve been given a chance to have a do-over of your life, a completely clean slate to start out as you live the rest of your life but it will be on another planet and all your friends and loved ones will be long dead and gone? Will you take it? Jim Preston (Chris Pratt) had that chance and he took it, along with 5,000 other people who wanted a fresh start. Aboard the spaceship, Avalon, they were enroute to a new relocation planet called Homestead II. It was a planet similar to Earth minus the overpopulation, the pollution and the decay that was already killing the natural resources.

The Great Wall Starring Matt Damon

Wednesday, December 28, 2016 , , , 0 Comments

Even though the film, The Great Wall was met with negativity and backlash when it was first announced, nothing stopped production and come next year (that’s just in a few days), we’ll be able to watch this Matt Damon film. I’ve always been able to filter out negative publicity and critics, I want to see for myself how he’ll fit into this Asian-themed film. After all, I enjoyed Keanu Reeve’s performance in 47 Ronin.

Not a Tim Ho Wan Newbie Anymore

Wednesday, December 28, 2016 0 Comments

Okay before you shake your head in disbelief, yes it was just a few weeks ago when I had my first taste of the dishes offered at Tim Ho Wan. I remember when it first opened at SM Megamall Fashion Hall and people were so eager to line up outside the restaurant for hours. I heard about it but I didn’t join the bandwagon. So one day when I finally got the chance to, I finally saw and tasted for myself what the fuss was about.

What’s your Comfort Food?

Wednesday, December 28, 2016 , 0 Comments

Whoever formed the concept of comfort food probably just wanted an excuse to be able to indulge in high caloric food. That was what I was thinking while having lunch all by my lonesome after completing our Christmas gift list. I was feeling mighty stressed from my art project commissions and I was feeling a bit bad that I was doing all the shopping on my own and without my significant other. So I headed to Tenya and ordered my favorite comfort food. Take a guess.

Planners Filled Out

Tuesday, December 27, 2016 , 0 Comments

My Christmas weekend didn’t turn out as planned, no thanks no Super Typhoon Nock-Ten and its fateful decision to visit the country on Christmas day itself. It sure didn’t bring any gifts. So I just ended up having a quiet day with my mom and our dogs at home. I also excited filled out my BDJ Planners while the weather shifted from gloomy to a bit sunny outside.

Animals Compete for Stardom in the Movie, Sing

Tuesday, December 27, 2016 , , , 0 Comments

Brought to us by the studio who made Despicable Me, Dr. Seuss’ The Lorax and the Minions, the next animation in this line-up presents a world much like ours but is inhabited by animals. Leading the cast is Buster (Matthew McConaughey) as he creates a singing competition in order to save his theater that has fallen on hard times.

Collateral Beauty Stirs Emotions Next Month

Tuesday, December 27, 2016 , , , 0 Comments

One of the movies that I’ve been hearing so much about lately is Collateral Beauty and since there’s is still a local film fest going on, we’ll be able to see this film as one of the movies welcoming the New Year. Collateral Beauty stars Will Smith who plays the character of Howard. Howard was a successful executive and heads his own company but the death of his six-year-old daughter puts him into an emotional seclusion. He withdraws from human contact and only writes letters to Love, Time and Death.

Bookmarking for Instagram

Wednesday, December 21, 2016 0 Comments

One of the apps that I frequently use everyday is Instagram. Although I don’t get to post as much now as I used to because of my heavy work schedule, I still enjoy browsing through my feed during work breaks. One feature that I’ve been wishing for Instagram to have is to have the ability to save liked photos. I guess there are some image rights and such that prevented them from including this feature in the original app so what happens is that most people just resort to saving screenshots of the posts that they like.

Check out this Cool Vulpix Plushie

Tuesday, December 20, 2016 , 0 Comments

Given the recent Christmas update for Pokemon Go, I'm sure some of you have started to play the game again. Although the game has lost majority of its popularity in the past months, there are still some hardcore gamers out there. I've also played the game once in a while but unfortunately, my old Zen Fone 2 has a bug where I can't launch the game immediately on date. I'd have to use wifi first then switch to data for me to be able to play the game farther than my wifi router source. Told the devs and even the ASUS support about this but still didn't get a good work around for the issue. Anyway, I play whenever I can and I really really want to be able to catch a Vulpix. It's one of my favorite Pokemons and up until now, it's still elusive to me.

Greenery for Pantone’s Color of the Year

Monday, December 19, 2016 , 0 Comments

Good news to all who love the color green. Pantone has recently announced its Color of the Year for 2017 and it’s Pantone 15-0343 Greenery. The color green has always symbolized freshness and hope. It’s also the color for life. Pantone chose this color amidst the aftermath of a controversial US Presidential election.

Experiencing Rogue One

Monday, December 19, 2016 , 0 Comments

Disclaimer: This post narrates my reaction to the current movie reigning at the cinemas and how an Imprerial Droid probably stole the hearts of Star Wars fans.
Last week, we braved the crazy traffic due to the holiday rush and made a beeline to go to SM Megamall (one of the go-to shopping destinations of most Christmas shoppers in Manila) just to attend the press premiere of Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. I knew that it would be the last major movie premiere of the year before the Manila Film Festival and I surely didn’t want to miss it. Plus it’s a Star Wars movie for crying out loud.

Life Saver Watch: Helping Cancer Patients

Wednesday, December 14, 2016 , 0 Comments

For my birthday last month, one of the gifts that my sister and her boyfriend gave to me was a Life Saver watch that she bought from the Love Hope Faith Giftshop. I was surprised to be receiving a watch from my little sis and when I read the product description that came along with the watch, I understood.

Check Out the IMAX Posters for Rogue One: A Star Wars Story

Thursday, December 08, 2016 , , 0 Comments

I can’t help but feel a bit nostalgic at these newly released IMAX Posters for the upcoming film – Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. The style is reminiscent of the old Star Wars movie posters with a bit of modern touch. The movie will open in theaters on December 15th and has now been re-mastered into the image and sound quality of an IMAX 3D Experience.

Hello December

It’s already seven days into the new month and I know I’m only just now posting to say hello. It’s been busy busy for me. Don’t worry though, it’s the good kind of busy. There are so many calligraphy orders and illustration projects on my plate aside from my day job and that’s been keeping my calendar and to-do list constantly full these days. Oh and for your art fix, I’ve re-launched my art blog into its new home. Head on over to Cher’s Creative Space and give me a follow. I’m excited to be filling that up with great art posts.

Upcoming Movie: Office Christmas Party

Wednesday, November 30, 2016 , , , 0 Comments

As I write this, we’re actually officially about to enter the month of December and in just a few days, Christmas. December is usually synonymous with holiday chaos. Everyone’s out and about, parties are everywhere and people are spending so much during holiday sales. Well, it’s probably why people called Christmas the most wonderful time of the year. In the movie, Office Christmas Party, Clay Vanstone (T.J. Miller) plans to do just that, have an epic Christmas party that will be one for the books.

Upcoming Movie: Passengers

Climate change, we can all feel the effects of it. Still it defies my understanding why some people still think that it’s a hoax. Well, take a look around, the planet is sick and dying from mankind’s continual abuse. Yes, companies are going green and more and more people are taking notice of what they contribute to the environment. The question is, is it all too late? A dystopian Earth is the subject of many sci-fi novels and a handful of movies. Looks like there’s something big heading our way to herald the New Year in 2017. Passengers star Jennifer Lawrence and Chris Pratt. Two of the most sought after and good looking stars in Hollywood today.

Upcoming Movie–Transformers: The Last Knight

Saturday, November 26, 2016 0 Comments

It looks like we haven’t seen the last of the Transformers movie franchise. This coming December 16th will be the launch of the first trailer for Transformers: The Last Knight right before Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. Yes, I know what you’re thinking, even though the last Transformers movie spearheaded by Mark Wahlberg earned around $1.1B in the box office, it wasn’t received well by fans and critics. Even I, was a little bit displeased with the film. Here’s hoping that in this next one, Michael Bay will be able to redeem himself.

Japanese Fix at Kimpura Greenhills

Wednesday, November 16, 2016 0 Comments

I’ve always loved Japanese food. Here’s a tip, if I’m in a bad mood, get on my good side by taking me to a really good Japanese restaurant and let me eat Ebi tempura to my heart’s content and we’ll be good in no time. Hahaha, really it’s that simple. Last weekend, for our 1 year and 2 months dinner date, my boyfriend and I went to Kimpura at Greenhills after a quick visit to a project site. Oh and by the way, there’s a Christmas Tiannge ongoing there, so it might be good to get a headstart on your shopping lists. The christmas presentation has also started and you might want to bring your kids there to watch.

Since we went there on impulse and didn’t really have any reservations, we had to sit by the sushi bar which was fine because it was just the two of us anyway. Take note that families love to dine at Kimpura during weekend and if you’re a large group, it’s best to call in for a reservation first. Here’s what we ordered.

Tuna Sashimi to start us off. You can’t beat the fresh quality of this fish.

Coming Soon: Beauty and the Beast

Tuesday, November 08, 2016 , , 0 Comments

As I browsed through these recently released official images for the upcoming live-action adaptation of Disney’s Beauty and the Beast, I still can’t help but think of the soundtrack. I can almost hear Gaston (Luke Evans) as he sings inside the tavern. I can hear Mrs. Potts’ (Emma Thompson) voice as she talks to Cogsworth (Ian McKellen), Lumiere (Ewan McGregor) and Chip (Nathan Mack). Emma Watson looks stunning in the iconic yellow “Belle” ballgown that the character wore in the animation.

Game Review: Cooking Dash 2016

Friday, November 04, 2016 , 0 Comments

Do you guys remember Diner Dash and its main game character, Flo? I remember when it came out several years ago, it paved the way for casual time management games. Flo became one of the most recognizable game characters and there had been so many spin-off games after that. Cooking games began to be a whole new genre. Now fast forward to several years later, Flo is still a game icon and the franchise has churned out its most innovative game yet.

Movie Review: Doctor Strange

Thursday, November 03, 2016 , 0 Comments

The long weekend had come and gone and I hope that by now you’ve taken the time to watch Doctor Strange. You haven’t? Oh boy, you’re missing out. The movie had been a delight ever since we saw a 15-minute preview of the most delightful scenes of the movie and I was counting the days until I got to see the whole film. I tell you, whoever pitched that selected storylines from the Marvel Universe be made into full-length movies deserve so much more than a promotion. After seeing the film, I can’t get enough.

Quick Feature: Marufuku Japanese Restaurant

Saturday, October 29, 2016 0 Comments

For one of our monthsaries (yes, we still celebrate those), we made an impromptu decision to have dinner at Marufuku, a Japanese restaurant that had been highly recommended by my boyfriend’s friends. It was a Saturday night that time and when we got there, the place was full. It’s a good thing that the hostess still accommodated walk-ins but we had to sit at the sushi bar. It was fine, since it was only us two.

Increase Productivity with the BDJ Desk Calendar

One of the best tools for productivity in my opinion is a desk calendar. It is often overlooked because it is easy to dismiss its presence on your desk but I can’t say how many times it had been very very useful to me. Movie Review: Keeping Up with the Joneses

Tuesday, October 25, 2016 , 0 Comments

I got to watch Keeping Up with the Joneses last week and it was a good break from the work week. The trailer had me laughing out loud and I had high expectations for a Zach Galifianakis movie. The movie mostly started out about Jeff (Zach Galifianakis) and Karen (Isla Fisher) who were otherwise leading normal but mundane lives. They lived in a nice neighborhood which gave out a Desperate Housewives vibe. Then the new neighbors moved in and all hell broke lose.

Scenes from the 2016 BDJ Fair

Sunday, October 23, 2016 , 0 Comments

Last weekend, after doing my weekend chores, I headed down to the SM Mall of Asia Music Hall where the 2016 BDJ Fair was being held. I was surprised that the place was packed with people and the entire area was brimming with activites. There was a storm that weekend and despite the gloomy weather, the turnout was pretty good. Upon registering, visitors were greeted by this selling booth. This is also where eager bellas can see the lineup of 2017 planners from the Belle de Jour team.

Meet the Characters in Doctor Strange

Tuesday, October 18, 2016 , , 0 Comments

Here’s a little more to satiate your excitement for the upcoming Marvel film, Doctor Strange starring Benedict Cumberbatch. Let’s get to know the other characters in the movie. First up of course is Doctor Stephen Strange himself. He is a brilliant doctor with exceptional skills and an outstanding career. He is quite arrogant and when he got involved in a tragic accident, it cost him his entire career. It is through this yearning to redeem himself that he crosses paths with The Ancient One, who will teach him the ways of the Mystic Arts.

Three Ways to Access Google Keep

One of the note-taking apps that I frequently use is Google Keep. It’s a simple note-taking app that lets you create simple color-coded notes and lists on  your device and sync it via the power of the cloud. Google Keep lets you also share these notes and lists to friends and collaborators so that you can edit notes simultaneously. Just recently, these notes can be made friendlier and more searchable through the use of categories and tags.

Star Wars fans have much to be happy about come the end of the year with the release of the standalone film, Rogue One. Fresh from the studios of Lucasfilm, we get to see an all new epic adventure that is set in the Star Wars universe. I guess this is a timely move to amp up the anticipation for the next chapter in the Star Wars Saga.

Come and Join the 2016 BDJ Fair

Tuesday, October 11, 2016 , 0 Comments

I’m very excited to announce that the much awaited BDJ Fair is set to happen this weekend on October 16 at the SM MOA, Music Hall. Aside from raising funds to help advocacies, the BDJ Fair is also the event where the next year’s set of Belle de Jour (BDJ) Power Planners are unveiled and made available to very lucky fair attendees at a discounted price. The planners to be launched are the BDJ Power Planners, NAVI, Everything is Possible, Focus Journal and all the other new BDJ Paper products. Trust me, they have very an awesome line up of products for next year. This year’s BDJ Fair theme is Rise Above the Waves.

Movie Trailer: Allied

Tuesday, October 11, 2016 , , , 0 Comments

Ever wonder about the movie that brought about the rumors of a Brad Pitt and Marion Cotillard affair? Well, here it is. They’ve just released the new trailer for Allied and I must tell you that it reminded me so much of Mr. and Mrs. Smith albeit in a more serious way. The movie’s plot appears to be heavy and will test any perceived notions you have of love, trust and marriage.
