Those Tasty Videos

What’s on your nightly ritual? My old one used to be like this. I do my beauty regimens first which includes washing my face, putting on a toner then putting on some serum and then moisturizer. Then I climb onto bed to read until I fall asleep. Now though, there’s an extra step to my nightly rituals. In between my beauty regimens and before falling asleep, right after I’ve read a chapter or two, I watch Tasty videos on Facebook. Say what? What are Tasty videos you say?

More Ways to Enjoy Spotify

Thursday, January 28, 2016 , , 0 Comments

I have been a satisfied Spotify user for several months now. It’s my constant companion while at work (when I’m not listening to my audiobooks) and while I do my arts and calligraphy at home. Did you know though that it’s more than just for browsing through playlists, making them or listening to available albums? You can do so much more with your Spotify app. Now first and foremost, I’m not paid to do this post but I do am eager to share amazing services that I too personally use.

A Chance at a New Life in Brooklyn

Tuesday, January 26, 2016 , 0 Comments

What's the scariest thing you've done for yourself so far? Now I'm not talking about screaming your lungs out skydiving or riding a pipe wave during surfing. I'm talking about doing something scary because it involves changing your life. That's what it must have felt like for Eilis (Saoirse Ronan) as she embarked on a ship from Ireland headed to Brooklyn with almost nothing and no one except for the hope that she can have a new life.

Jessica Biel in Accidental Love

Monday, January 25, 2016 , , , 0 Comments

For the month of hearts, celebrate it with tons of laughter through the RomCom, Accidental Love. Albeit on the freaky side, the story centers around Alice Eckle (Jessica Biel) and her quest to remove a nail that was accidentally shot to her head. Yes, a nail straight from a nail gun is stuck on her head. Deeming it not life threatening and due to the lack of funds, she opted not to remove it.

Gerard Butler in Gods of Egypt

Sunday, January 24, 2016 , , , 0 Comments

I was all giddy and excited when I saw the trailer for Gods of Egypt. The movie is based on the classic Egyptian mythology. In this film, the survival of mankind hangs in the balance as a mortal hero Bek (Brenton Thwaites) takes on a mission to save the world to rescue his true love. However, his success depends the help of the god Horus (Nikolaj Coster-Waldau).

Now that famous Arabian folktale is getting a re-adaptation and this time, our new modern ALaddin is known as Sam (Kev Adams). The movie Aladdin will open in Philippine theaters on January 27th.

Creative Disney Food Art

Wednesday, January 20, 2016 , , 0 Comments

One of my best friends from my former office had recently conducted a bento-box making workshop and it was a huge success. She started out posting her creations on Facebook for friends and families to see and soon her amazing works gained a much wider audience. I even once joked that I would go to her house just so I could get one of her bento boxes for myself. Mickey told me that she started doing the food art because her daughter is so picky. It was the same thing for Samantha Lee. This Malaysian mom had been making whimsical food art for the pickiest of eaters and has recently grown her fan base on IG for up to 725K!

There are some that are so-so but there are those little gems that are just worthy of re-posting in this blog. This honor goes to artist Artist Gabriel Picolo and his illustrated book pages that are inspired by the world of Harry Potter. Check it out.

When’s the last time you got your horror film fix? That’s what I was thinking as I watched the trailer for The Forest and it looked downright scary. The movie, starring Natalie Dormer is set to open in Philippine theaters next month on the 17th. The movie was shot at the legendary Aokigahara Forest in Japan and is portrayed in the film as the place where lost souls go.

One of Shakepeare’s most popular plays has been adapted to the big screen anew starring Michael Fassbender in the titular role with Marion Cotillard as his wife. True to the theme of the original tragedy, the movie Macbeth directed by Justin Kurzel features Macbeth’s ambitious wife urging her husband to use wicked and malicious means to gain power.

Who doesn’t love an underdog story right? Based from true events come the movie, Eddie the Eagle starring Hugh Jackman and Taron Egerton. You might remember Taron as the lovable lead from Kingsman: The Secret Service. The movie tells the story of Michael “Eddie” Edwards as the British Ski-jumper who was notorious for being persistent at the sport even when his family and the entire nation already ruled him out.

My 2016 Reading Challenge

Monday, January 04, 2016 , , 0 Comments

For five years in a row now, I’ve actively participated in the Goodreads Reading Challenge and I have immensely enjoyed discovering a lot of books and authors each year. Unfortunately, last year I have failed to complete the challenge for the first time by only two books. It’s so frustrating because I got so busy with everything else that was going on (I’m sure you’ve also noticed by the lack of posts in this blog) that I had neglected to complete the task. This year though, I’m determined to complete the reading challenge with the same amount of books I had pledged last year.

Living Ink, Writing with Algae

Saturday, January 02, 2016 , 0 Comments

I saw this project on Kickstarter some weeks ago and I’m still amazed by it. The developers of the project has created a unique ink that utilizes the abilities of living algae to create works of art or convey messages that can be revealed in a few day’s time. The ink needs to be exposed to sunlight in order for the algae to grow. It is for this reason that after writing out on paper, it needs to be housed in a specially made container with a nutrient dense material that promotes growth.

Open Live Writer for Blogging

I’ve been a long time user of Windows Live Writer, I used it all the time to write drafts of my blog posts for all of my blogs. I find it convenient because it’s easier to edit photos and edit html codes. Until last month, I couldn’t use it to post and I kept thinking that there has been another bug. Sure enough, after some quick research, I found out that Google has recently changed it authentication systems and also restricted the use of 3rd party applications to post into Blogger. What a shame right? It’s a good thing that some good samaritans decided to make an open source version of Windows Live Writer called Open Live Writer.

My Steam Winter Sale Purchases

Saturday, January 02, 2016 , , 0 Comments

I’ve always looked forward to the end of the year when Steam announces their Holiday Sale. It’s the only time I get to finally buy the games that have been hibernating on my wishlist for quite a time and accomplish steam goals at the same time. Just a few hours ago, I was able to craft the second level of my 2015 Steam Winter Sale badge and finally put a period to my shopping. The 2015 Steam Winter Sale is on until January 5th PDT. Let’s see my purchases this year shall we?

APOTHEON
About the Game:
The Gods of Olympus have abandoned humanity, leaving you to perish without their benevolence. Take up arms against the Gods, climb Mount Olympus, and take their divine powers for yourself to ensure mankind’s survival!
Apotheon is a fast and brutal 2D action game with a striking art style and heroic narrative based on Ancient Greek Mythology.
