Coca Cola’s Amazing Drinkable Ad

Thursday, March 31, 2016 , 0 Comments

It’s rare that I rave about an advertising campaign but what I saw just a few minutes ago is definitely worth sharing. Advertising is an aggressive creative industry that I’ve always had profound respect for and when an ad as amazing as this advertising campaign by Ogilvy & Mather catches my eye, I am reminded of the level of creativity the field demands. Kudos to the guys who are the brains behind this campaign and oh wow, I’m now unbelievably craving for a Coke Zero now. Good job guys!

Meet Eric, the Huntsman in Winter’s War

Wednesday, March 30, 2016 , , , 0 Comments

Back in 2012, I had loved the darker re-telling of the story of Snow White in the movie, Snow White and the Hunstman (read my review here). Now we delve deeper into the fairy tale as we come to know Eric (Chris Hemsworth) as the valiant Huntsman and his story and the role he played as the foremost opponent of Queen Ravenna (Charlize Theron). Chris Hemsworth reprises his role in the Universal Picture’s new fantasy movie, The Huntsman: Winter’s War.

Disney’s The Jungle Book Swings into Theaters Next Week

Wednesday, March 30, 2016 , , , 0 Comments

On October 18th, 1967, the animated movie, The Jungle Book directed by Wolfgang Reitherman was released just a year after Walt Disney’s death. The movie became an instant classic. Now decades after, the story inspired by the book originally written by Rudyard Kipling, The Jungle Book will be adapted to the big screen under the direction of Jon Favreau. I’ve always loved Favreau’s work and I’m eagerly anticipating this movie as it opens in Philippine theaters on April 6th.

World Chef Game Review

Sunday, March 20, 2016 , 0 Comments

Think you’ve had enough of restaurant games? Well, you might want to give World Chef a try. It will not only let you manage your own restaurant, keep your customers happy but it will also let you design the way your restaurant looks as well. As you can probably tell, the design part was what got me playing it in the first place and what do you know, at level 21, it looks like I’ll still be playing it for quite some time.

Here’s Team Iron Man in Captain America: Civil War

Friday, March 18, 2016 , , 0 Comments

Yesterday I posted the heroes who have pledged allegiance to Captain America in the upcoming movie, Captain America: Civil War. Here’s a look at the other team, the team behind Iron Man. Why do the heroes have to choose sides? Well, when the Avengers are defending humanity, buildings get destroyed, people get killed and leaders get thrown behind the background for a time. The government wants some level of control and accountability when it comes to the Avengers. Captain America (Chris Evans) wants his team to remain free to defend humanity without being tied by rules and any other government conundrums. Iron Man , on the other hand, is on the government’s side. Shocking ain’t it? Check out his team.

The Wonders of Google Word Definitions

Friday, March 18, 2016 , 0 Comments

Aside from being a science geek, I also have a fascination with word origins. Yep, among the many interests I have, included there is etymology. Well, when you’re a wide reader like me, you’ll encounter words that sometimes require to be looked up in the dictionary. Well, here’s something that can make it more fun. Have you tried searching for word definitions in Google? I’m sure you have and maybe you’re in a hurry too much that you might not have noticed just how extensive the definition results could be. For an etymology enthusiast like me though, it’s utterly amazing.

Living Jewelry to Wear

Thursday, March 17, 2016 0 Comments

I was just telling my boyfriend the other day that I now understand how men go all out in buying expensive watches (different ones at that) as part of their wardrobe. It’s just like me or any woman, fancying a nice pair of jewelry to wear with the chosen outfit for the day. With me having a creative soul, I don’t go for uber expensive pieces, I always gravitate towards something that is unique and worth showing off. One thing that caught my eye this week are the terrarium jewelry pieces and the living succulents that you can wear featured by two great crafters.

The Allies of Captain America in Civil War

Thursday, March 17, 2016 , , 0 Comments

Opening in Philippine theaters on April 27th, Captain America: Civil War will see the Avengers split in two. One side is led by Steve Rogers (Chris Evans) as he fights for the Avengers to remain free to defend humanity without any form of government intervention while the other side is led by Tony Stark (Robert Downey, Jr.) as he surprisingly sides with the government for the Avengers to be held accountable for their actions. Check out the heroes fighting alongside Captain America in this series of posters released for the film.

Miracles from Heaven Movie Review

Thursday, March 17, 2016 , 0 Comments

Have you ever, at one point in your life, wanted a miracle so bad that you felt that the despair and hopelessness is just taking you over? It's not a very good place to be in isn't it? One of the most moving films I've seen so far this year is Miracles from Heaven, starring Jennifer Garner. I felt the anguish and desperation of the family as they tried to deal with the blow to their faith. I think what makes this film more relatable is that it is from the real experience of the Beam family as told in Christy Beam’s memoir, Miracles from Heaven.

Denim Hair is In

When I was frolicking around the streets of Hong Kong a few weeks ago, I noticed some stylish women sporting rainbow colored hair. I even wondered if my dark tresses would someday be as colorful as that. It turns out that rainbow colored hair is so last season, the hottest hair trend now is denim hair. Blue and white-washed tresses are very very in. Take a look.

Currently Reading: Books on Gaming, Doodles and Coffee

Thursday, March 10, 2016 0 Comments

It’s now March and how are you doing with your individual reading challenges so far? I’m doing good despite lagging 1 book behind. Taking into account that I have a very busy schedule and I also did some travelling lately, I am confident that I will be able to catch up again soon. Take a look at what’s on my reading shelf this month.

Armada by Ernest Cline
armada-book
Zack Lightman has spent his life dreaming. Dreaming that the real world could be a little more like the countless science-fiction books, movies, and videogames he’s spent his life consuming. Dreaming that one day, some fantastic, world-altering event will shatter the monotony of his humdrum existence and whisk him off on some grand space-faring adventure.
But hey, there’s nothing wrong with a little escapism, right? After all, Zack tells himself, he knows the difference between fantasy and reality. He knows that here in the real world, aimless teenage gamers with anger issues don’t get chosen to save the universe.
And then he sees the flying saucer.

Even stranger, the alien ship he’s staring at is straight out of the videogame he plays every night, a hugely popular online flight simulator called Armada—in which gamers just happen to be protecting the earth from alien invaders.

No, Zack hasn’t lost his mind. As impossible as it seems, what he’s seeing is all too real. And his skills—as well as those of millions of gamers across the world—are going to be needed to save the earth from what’s about to befall it.

It’s Zack’s chance, at last, to play the hero. But even through the terror and exhilaration, he can’t help thinking back to all those science-fiction stories he grew up with, and wondering: Doesn’t something about this scenario seem a little…familiar?

10 Cloverfield Lane, New Clips and Trailer

Thursday, March 10, 2016 , , , 0 Comments

If you’ve haven’t heard of 10 Cloverfield Lane yet, it’s the new movie from Paramount Pictures and produced by J.J. Abrams. (Hooray! The J.J. Abrams fan in me just can’t help but rejoice) When it comes to teasing us with a movie full of mystery, I can attest that J.J. Abrams is a master. After I saw the first released trailer for 10 Cloverfield Lane, I was left with so many questions and intrigue that I know will only build up as the movie’s release date draws near.

A new trailer for the movie reboot of the Ghostbusters has just been released. This is entirely different from the US version that premiered last week. Not only will the reboot feature more enticing visuals but also an all-female lead cast.
Kristen Wiig plays Erin Gilbert, a particle physicist, academic firebrand, spectral warrior; Kate McKinnon is Jillian Holtzmann, a nuclear engineer, munitions expert, and proton wrangler; Melissa McCarthy is Abby Yates, a paranormal researcher, supernatural scientist, and entity trapper; and Leslie Jones is Patty Tolan, a ghost tracker, municipal historian, and metaphysical commando.

Allegiant Explodes in Cinemas on March 9

Friday, March 04, 2016 , , 0 Comments

From the moment I read the first book in the series written by Veronica Roth, I was hooked. I was more than excited when they announced that the series will be adapted into the big screen a few years back. While the first movie didn’t really meet my expectations, the second one blew me away. Now, I’m eagerly anticipating the last film in the trilogy.

Opening Soon: Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice

Friday, March 04, 2016 , , 0 Comments

I’m officially counting down the days until the most hyped movie of the year, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice finally hits the cinemas on the 26th. Brought to us by the Warner Bros. Pictures (a Warner Bros. Entertainment Company), the movie features two of the most iconic superheroes in the DC Universe. One is an orphan and has a thirst for vengeance while the other hails from a dying planet and was honed by the values of his human family.

The Finest Hours Movie Review

Thursday, March 03, 2016 , 0 Comments

Last week, before I left for Hong Kong for a much needed vacation, I got to attend a press screening for the movie, The Finest Hours. The movie features a star-studded cast, a compelling true story and cutting edge visual effects. When I first saw the trailer for the film, I already felt that it was going to be a feel-good movie that celebrated the triumph of the human spirit. What was moving about the film wasn’t the rescue itself, although that was amazing, but rather it was the combined efforts of the people involved and the forces of nature that transpired during that time.

McDonalds Free McMuffins!

Tuesday, March 01, 2016 , 0 Comments

Sometimes I find myself being too much like Garfield on a Monday since it's usually the day with the heaviest traffic of the week. Now as we welcome the brand new month of March, there is at least one Monday we can all look forward to. Mark your calendars for the 14th. Why? McDonald's will be celebrating its 4th National Breakfast Day and everyone is welcome to join in the fun.
