Can’t Wait for Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them

Thursday, June 23, 2016 , , , 0 Comments

Being the huge Potter geek that I am, I can’t wait to be on the journey back into Hogwarts once again. I’m very much excited for the release of Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them starring Eddie Redmayne and is slated for release November of this year.

Fighting off Aliens in Resurgence

Independence Day: Resurgence Movie Review
Ever since they’ve started to show the trailer and promotional posters for Independence Day: Resurgence, I couldn’t help but feel nostalgic about the first film. It was one of my favorite sci-fi/doomsday films of all time and I only have fond memories of it. I think, that’s what they were banking on when they made this film. Twenty years later and they’ve also employed most of the original cast with the exemption of Will Smith. Rumor was that he asked for a ludicrous amount of talent fee to reprise his role. The lead role went instead to Liam Hemsworth. At least it’s still one of my Hollywood crushes. :P

The Legend of Tarzan in a New Retelling

Wednesday, June 22, 2016 , , 0 Comments

Imagine being a writer, having your story live on past through your lifetime and well into centuries after that. That must be really something right? Edgar Rice Borroughs actually penned the story of Tarzan back in 1912 and it’s still one of the most popular and classic tales in the world of literature. The Legend of Tarzan had been retold so many times in movies, tv series and even video games and for this year, we’d probably see the most epic retelling of the story yet.

Combining Food and Art

Wednesday, June 22, 2016 , 0 Comments

I love it when creatives take their art into the next level and combine their love of art with their love for food. Take a look at the latest food art examples that I found while browsing the net over breakfast.

SUMMER LOLLLIPOPS
In Tokyo, artist and sculptor Shinri Tezuka makes these incredible themed lollipops. For the summer, he created this candy collection that are just too pretty to eat.

A Look at the Suicide Squad

Wednesday, June 22, 2016 , , 0 Comments

There is good in everyone, right? Well, at least that’s what Amanda Waller (Viola Davis) was hoping when she conceptualized a group of misfits to become unlikely heroes in the movie, Suicide Squad. What makes this movie really something to look forward to are the interesting mix of Super Villains who were called upon to take on the responsibility. The movie is set for release in Philippine theaters on August 4th and you bet I’ve already marked my calendars so that I wouldn’t miss it.

I’m sure you’ve seen the trailers for this film for quite a while now and cannot wait for August to come. For the meantime, Warner Bros. has released individual character posters for the entire team. Check them out.

Finding Dory, 13 years in the Making

Friday, June 17, 2016 , 0 Comments

One of the most famous films that Pixar has under its belt is Finding Nemo and it was in this film that we all fell in-love with Dory, that blue tang who has a sunny personality and a short-term memory. The friendship between Marlin and Dory will forever be etched in film memory. Since all the time that had passed, I guess the Pixar execs deemed it time for Dory to tell her own story. It was a good gamble since not all were convinced that it would make for a good sequel but I stand convinced.

Yes, buttercream!! Just the thought of it is making my mouth water. However, at the moment, it’s not good for my hips. Good thing there is a safer way to enjoy it without the guilt. On June 18th, that’s a Saturday, come 1pm, masters of buttercream art, Valeri Valeriano and Christina Ong will be at the Activity Center of Glorietta 3 at Ayala Center, Makati. They will also be launching their third book, Buttercream OneTier Wonders. The book will provide 30 cake decorating projects with step-by-step instructions and also techniques using different tools.

The One Game-to-Movie Adaptation that I liked

Sunday, June 12, 2016 , 0 Comments

After a grueling workshop month, I had enjoyed my first carefree weekend with the boyfriend about a week ago. One of the things we had on the agenda was catching the movie, Warcraft before the next batch of new movies came out. I had no expectations prior to watching the film. I heard mixed reviews about it but like always, I prefer to have my own view of the movie after watching it. I did know one thing though, I knew that the movie will appeal to the gamer in me. I had briefly played with the game and although I didn’t get into it that much (I had favored another game), I got into the novels that were released based on the game. Reading the books felt like eons ago and I had a hazy recollection the plot highlights. So clearing my head felt like the best thing and you know what? I enjoyed the movie more.

Scares and More with The Conjuring 2 (movie review)

Thursday, June 09, 2016 , , , 0 Comments

The other night, I nervously dragged myself to the press screening of the movie, The Conjuring 2. Yes, I briefly considered not going because I remembered how it was during the first film and I was scared to turn the lights off in my room for two weeks. After a more self-debate and encouragement from fellow bloggers who were also attending the premiere, I finally mustered enough courage to go. As the opening credits for the film started, I desperately tried to keep my mind in a state, telling myself that it was only a film, however since we were in a cinema that had Dolby Atmos Surround Sound, that proved to be futile.

The Aliens are Back in Independence Day: Resurgence

Monday, June 06, 2016 , , 0 Comments

Do you guys remember the movie, Independence Day? Yes, the one starring Will Smith. I watched that movie over and over when I was in my teens. Oh and that scene with the dog in the car? Oh my, I remember that. I was literally shouting, come on dog! Get out of the car!. Whew, okay, let’s get out of memory lane and well, here we are. There’s a sequel to the movie coming up. From the trailers alone, it’s looking that this is going to be much bigger and more action-packed than the first film and I can’t wait.

First Trailer for Monster Trucks

If you’ve seen X-Men: Apocalypse then you must remember Havoc, Cyclops’ brother played by Lucas Till. Fresh off the success of the latest X-Men movie, we’ll be seeing Lucas Till again in the upcoming movie, Monster Trucks. He plays the role of Tripp, a senior in high school who builds himself a Monster Truck from bits and pieces of scrap cars.

The Conjuring 2 is Coming

Saturday, June 04, 2016 , , , 0 Comments

It was around three years ago when I got to watch one of the most memorable horror films I’ve ever watched. It scared me so much that for two weeks I couldn’t sleep without the lights off in the room. The Conjuring was a horror movie that had me screaming out loud during the premiere and next week, I’m about to see the sequel. Truthfully, I’m still gathering up the courage to see it. I wonder if it will be just as good or even better than the first film.
