Robert Downey Jr. as Sherlock Holmes

When I see Robert Downey Jr, I can immediately identify him as two characters - Tony Stark and Sherlock Holmes. I can’t see these characters as anyone else. Thanks to RDJ’s superb acting and versatility, these characters have now come to life in full color. For the Game of Shadows, Sherlock faces his most difficult case yet with an opponent who can match his will and intellect. It is said that there’s more physical stunts for Holmes in this movie, that’s one part I’ll most watch out for when I see the film.

Jude Law as Dr. John Watson

Watson keeps Holmes in check with his obsession with pursuing Moriarty. While he’s not as witty as Sherlock is, Watson remains to be his very loyal companion who’s always got Sherlock’s back. He might have to choose between married life and solving crimes with Holmes in the end but it will be great seeing him fighting alongside Holmes against the greatest villain yet.

Noomi Rapace as Madam Simza Heron

Making her first English crossover film ever, Noomi caught the eyes of the critics for her portrayal of Lisbeth Salander in the Swedish adaptation of Steig Larsson’s novels, The Millennium Trilogy. Now she plays as the gypsy named Sim who becomes an ally for Sherlock Holmes in his quest to bring Moriarty to justice. How she fits into the puzzle is yet to be discovered but it’s my good guess that she’s part of Moriarty’s plot. We shall soon see.

The showing of Sherlock Holmes 2: A Game of Shadows is a bit late here in the Philippines due to the Manila Film Festival. Now that the cinema showing date is looming close, I can’t wait to finally see it for myself.
