Happy Death Day Returns with a Sequel

By Unknown - Monday, February 04, 2019

If you're getting a bit worried that most movies this month will be sappy romantic love stories, fret not because come February 13th, the sequel to the box office hit, Happy Death Day will open in theaters and we delve deeper into Tree's story.

Done in the fashion of Groundhog Day where the protagonist is forced to live the same day over and over, the first film had the chance to portray a heroine who outsmarted her death. In this sequel, we'll be learning about what was happening in the background, while things were unfolding over and over again.

“Tree is in a very difficult place,” he says, “and has to choose between her past and her future. She can stay in one dimension and be with her mom, but there is a very likely chance that she will lose Carter if she does. This alternate reality she’s living in doesn’t belong to her, as the pain and loss that have happened are essential to her being. She needs to own them and get back. Initially, she doesn’t want to close the loop, but rather, stay put. Once she realizes this isn’t where she belongs, the movie becomes about her getting back to where she does.” He pauses. “She’s a bit like Dorothy in Oz. She has to figure out how to get back home.”

Happy Death Day 2U will be distributed by United International Pictures through Columbia Pictures. Check out the trailer below:
